Different Kinds Of Gerber Knives

One of the most popular and most favorable knives today is the Gerber knife.  Known worldwide for top quality and optimum performance in most rigorous activities like camping and hunting, the Gerber knife has been around for generations and is still going strong in the knife and blade industry.  It is regarded by many as one of the “legendary” knives in the market not only because it can be used for many years but it has even been regarded as a valuable piece to be passed down to one’s children, brothers, and very close friends.  The Gerber knife was founded by Pete Gerber, who was honored and featured in Blade Magazine for his knife designs in 1985.  And because of the quality of his blades, other big time blade experts like Fred Carter and Blackie Collins have contributed their own designs for Gerber knives.  This goes to show that the Gerber knife is regarded as a high quality tool and a weapon you can bring along as a companion for survival.

There are different kinds of Gerber knives to choose from depending on the purpose the knife is to be used.  We have the fixed blade Gerber knife, the clip folding knife, the Stockman, the single blade Gerber knife, and lastly the folding sheath.  The fixed blade is used typically by men who love the outdoors as it is perfect for hunting and camping trips.  The features of the fixed blade include a high-carbon stainless steel blade, a wooden and sturdy handle and the company’s patented soft grip technology.  The fixed blade doesn’t fold, so it is extremely secure and all you need to buy is the sheath to keep it safe and beyond the reach of others.

The clip folding Gerber knife has various styles that you can choose from and is usually used for everyday activities.  And since it is designed for general purposes, the clip folding knife comes with basic features such as a good and secure Gerber blade, a secure lock for protection, and of course a strong handle.  The clip is designed to hold the knife firmly deep inside one’s pocket and at the same time making it easy for you to access it when needed.  But if you prefer a smaller pocket knife, you can always go for Stockman knives as these are typically used as a pocket knife for smaller jobs.  Known to carry on the heritage of the gentleman’s pocket knife, the Stockman is designed elegantly and is compact in size, making it ideal to bring along in one’s pocket.

The last two kinds are the single blade and the folding sheath Gerber knives.  The single blade is a small folding knife that can fit wonderfully inside your pocket.  It has a serrated blade and is best used for general purposes as well. The folding sheath on the other hand is a Gerber knife made for more complicated or “messy” jobs as it is larger in size and is held typically by the belt.
